TechniqueName: passing step, apply palm, <br><br>MaiBu is defined as a striding or dodging step diagonally to pass by the opponent (cpmpare falk dictionary of martial arts) <br><br>Cha Zhang means 'apply' or 'paint' (apply to skin) may be translated also to 'arranging palm' as in 'arranging flowers' which is possibly a term for positioning the opponents arms. This can be related to the routines Dan Cha Hua and Shuang Cha Hua(single and double arranging flowers). As well as to the form Ye Ding Cha Hua (hide a flower under a leaf) which is possibly also using many sealing hand methods between the techniques <br><br>In Routine Beng Bu, the technique Cha Zhang occurs several times, mostly at the beginning of a route and often followed by the filling strike (bu chui) <br><br>Sometimes, cha is translated as 'planting' this leads to confusion, as the planting punch (zai chui) is a different technique that means often punches in the belly area. The translation is probably because the near term 'arranging flowers' which means to stick flowers into a vase (plant). <br><br> <br><br> <br><br>
