    One of the base techniques in many mantis styles. It uses acombination of 3 main keywords. Gou means to hook(grab) the opponents wrist. Lou means to rake (grab the opponents arm with the second hand, push horizontally to the side or pull with both hands). Cai means to pluck and indicated a pulling action while rotating the wrist. The rotation locks the opponents arm joints, hinder his movements and allows joint bars. Gou Lou Cai is often used with a following straight punch. This leads often to the misunderstanding, the last character would stand for the punch. In fact, the combination with the straight punch is described within one of the twelve soft methods: "Lou shou er jin Shou" (raking hand and advancing hand) simplified name: gou lou cai / ngaulau coi
